Visiting Author - Stacy Nyikos

Award-winning children's author, Stacy Nyikos, visited our school on Wednesday, November 19th. She talked to students about how books go from ideas to finished products, the writing process, and how she creates stories like Dragon Wishes. Ms. Nyikos ate lunch with a group of lucky students and signed autographs while eating lunch!

Many students purchased Ms. Nyikos' books as a keepsake of their visit with her. Each book came with a personalized autograph. In addition, the students were engaged in Ms. Nyikos' presentations and asked thoughtful questions. We even got to see her real writer's notebook where she kept notes on her next book!

You can see a video trailer of Dragon Wishes below.

We are thankful for a successful and enriching author visit!

Nov 11th Science Fair Night at the Library

All Forest North parents and children are invited to come to the library after the general PTA meeting on November 11th. Drop in any time after the meeting until 8pm and gather some information for the upcoming science fair.

You will recieve: an instruction sheet on how to access the science fair website from home, some passwords to online databases that your child can use at home for research through our library, and you will have the opportunity to purchase a tri-fold display board. We will have some teachers on hand to answer any questions you have, and resources displayed to generate ideas.

Students in K-2 will have a class science fair project, but they may also do an individual project if they choose. Students in 3-5th are required to do an individual/small group project. Here is the link to our science fair website for more ideas! http://schools.roundrockisd.org/forestnorth/science_fair_information.htm

Book Fair a Success!

Thank you Forest North parents and students! We had a fantastic book fair this semester! We not only met our goal of putting 600 books into the hands of the students, but we exceeded it. Our students as a group recieved approximately 800 books. That's fantastic!

Our library earned $1000 in cash to purchase new books, in addition to being able to choose $450 worth of books from the fair itself.

Visit our fair website at: http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/forestnorth to see our final goal.
