Rosie Sprout's Time to Shine
I had the best time springing into spring with a bunch of my classes last week. We read Rosie Sprout's Time to Shine, watched a cool video of a bean sprouting in time lapse, and then did some science! We put a bean seed and a wet paper towel into a plastic bag.

Verb Tense with Plickers
I enjoyed collaborating with Ms. Velasquez today to teach her 4th grade classes with Plickers. We wrote some next level verb tense questions to really make sure the students understood how to make different clauses in the same sentence have the same verb tense. We also through in some review questions for apostrophes and quotation marks, as well. The passion for grammar is strong with this crew. Thanks for working with me, Ms. Velasquez, and catching this photo of us in action!

March Book Madness
5th grade has been enjoying #classroombookaday and reading a new picture book each day. It has been a great way to build connections between students, and between them and Ms. Moore and me. This process has also provided a daily opportunity, in just a few minutes, to build their background knowledge, vocabulary, and learn a little something different each day. We've identified some of their favorites from this year and are seeing what book rises to the top. What will they pick? Time will tell!

Financial Literacy in 5th Grade Math
I'm excited to collaborate with Mr. Martir this week and teach 5th grade financial literacy! It's an important skill to start early. We're going to review some terms like gross & net income and payroll deductions, then try our hand at playspent.org, an interesting game that sheds some light on financial management.
