End of the Year - My Account is Clear!

All library materials are due across RRISD this Friday, 5/19, so that we can get our annual inventory underway! We are hoping to reward our students for their responsibility by entering them in a drawing for prizes. Students whose names are drawn during morning announcements can come to the library, check to make sure their accounts are clear, and if so, they can choose a prize! If an entire class (including their homeroom teacher!) has clear accounts, we'll put their names in the drawing 3 times!

Popsicle Parties for all of Forest North

I'm proud to say we earned popsicle parties in every single class before the end of the last day of school!  Thanks so much to staff, students and their families for looking under beds and car seats for books, and for diligently paying for replacement copies for books that are permanently lost. Check out Ms. Johnson's class enjoying a treat for their responsibility!

All Library Materials Due Today!

I stayed up at work late last night printing out overdue notices and counting how many books we still had due before tomorrow - as of last night, it was 675!  We made a lot of of headway today though and lots of responsible students & staff members turned in lots of books.  I can't wait to run the report again and see where we stand!

For all classes who turn in all of their books (or pay for any lost ones), there is a popsicle party in your future!

Congratulations to Ms. Velasquez's 4th grade class for ALREADY earning their popsicle party a day early.  I mean, has that even happened before? I don't think so.  I'm so proud of them.  It was fun to tell them the good news on Thursday morning!  So thanks, Ms. Velasquez & her class, for being so responsible- can't wait to eat a popsicle with you outside next week!  I'll put them in the freezer tonight!

Zero Overdue Books Left!

Every single student turned in every single overdue book this year, and if a book was lost or damaged, every single student paid for a replacement copy. This is especially exciting for me, because this is my first year where I've accomplished this. Thank each and every student for being so responsible and making sure they start next year off with a clean slate. I'm so lucky to work with such an amazing group of students! I hope you enjoy your popsicle parties- you earned them!

Summer Reading

Can you believe we only have one day of school left? I can't! I know just the thing to keep you entertained and your reading skills sharp during summer break - read some of the 2011-2012 Bluebonnet Books! You could buy them at a book store, or borrow them for free at your local library! The Spicewood Branch of the Austin Public Library just came to Forest North last Friday for a visit and told us all about the fun events they're having this summer. Stop by for their awesome summer programs like a dance party, dog police officers, tap-dance man, Dinosaurs Vs. Aliens, and the Chicken Big puppet show! Don't forget to check out some of these awesome new 2011-2012 Bluebonnet Book Award nominees while you're there. If they're all checked out, you can put books on hold there too just like at school!

Here is a Wordle of the Top 10 Books read at Forest North in the 2009-2010 school year. How many of them did you read? Click the image to see a bigger version of it. The bigger the font of a title, the more people that checked it out this year. The top book at Forest North this year was Frogs by Nic Bishop, and so that's why it's the biggest in the Wordle.
